St. Leo to Host Annual Beginning Teacher Boot Camp
The public service is available to new school teachers joining the Pasco County School District.

SAINT LEO, FL – All across the country, NFL teams are getting ready to report to training camp to get ready for the season. Across Pasco County, first-year school teachers are getting ready to start their season as well.
To help them get off on the right foot, Saint Leo University is inviting first-time K-12 teachers joining the Pasco County School District to its free Beginning Teacher Boot Camp on Friday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to noon.
New teachers are welcome to attend, whether they graduated from Saint Leo or another institution.
The camp, now in its fifth year, is offered as a public service by the School of Education and Social Services at Saint Leo.
Beverly Ledbetter, who joined the university after a long career with the Pasco County School District, designed and organized the camp. She now serves as an adjunct instructor and director of teacher boot camps at Saint Leo. Ledbetter will lead the morning training session.
- Some of the practical tips and training that will be offered include:
- Classroom management strategies for the start of the year
- Contract rights and responsibilities
- Workplace acronyms new teachers don’t know yet
What new teachers can do to find out how school support personnel and fellow teachers work together on practical matters (who does what in your school and how to reach them when you need assistance)
The boot camp will take place in the Student Community Center at the Saint Leo University Campus, 33701 State Road 52, four miles east of Interstate 75 (Exit 285). Parking is available in surface lots and in the campus garage.
