Take Your Valentine Out to the Ball Game

The Sunlake Lady Seahawks will host their third annual "K-Out Cancer Pink Out" softball game against the Land O'Lakes Gators at 5 p.m. today (Feb. 14).

This is the first year the teams have played each other during this fundraiser and each will be wearing pink and showing their support to survivors, fighters, and warriors, and to help bring awareness to breast cancer, according to a press release.

The event kicks off with the juinior varsity teams at 5 p.m. and honorees throwing out the first pitches, followed by the varsity match up at 7 p.m.

County athletic gate cost is $3.00, which does not benefit the cause, however additional donations are appreciated, the release stated. A donation box will be set up at the gate table.

The annual event is held to bring awareness not only to breast cancer, but all cancers, along with a booth from the American Cancer Society for people to pick up information and/or request information not available on site, according to the release.

There will be a table to purchase an "In Honor or In Memory Of" sheets for family members and/or friends who have been affected by cancer. Cost is $1 and will be posted for others to remember and reflect. 

The team also will hold a bake sale to purchase "sweet treats" and a silent auction. All  proceeds will go toward the Sunlake Lady Seahawks Relay for Life team's donation to The American Cancer Society, the release stated.

Everyone attending is asked and encouraged to wear pink to support the cause.

The team also is looking for individuals, families, and/or friends willing to share their stories in writing, which will be posted at the team's Relay for Life booth.
