Update: 16-Year-Old Shot By 2 Men Wearing Ski Masks In Land O' Lakes

The teen sustained a minor injury, but the Pasco sheriff's office is seeking help to locate the shooters.

LAND O' LAKES, FL — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that injured a 16-year-old boy Wednesday night.

According to the sheriff's office, just before 8:45 p.m., two male teens, ages 16 and 17,were attempting to sell marijuana in the parking lot of Tropical Smoothie near the intersection of State Road 54 and Livingston Avenue in Land O' Lakes.

While in the parking lot, the teens said they were approached by two men wearing ski masks. In an attempt to avoid a confrontation, the teens got into their car and began to drive away. As they were leaving, one of the men fired a gun at the car and the 16-year-old suffered a minor injury.

The teens then drove to the Crunch Fitness while one of the men followed them and continued to shoot at the car. The injured 16-year-old ran inside the Crunch Fitness in the 2120 block of Collier Parkway , telling those inside that he'd been shot and needed help with his injury.

Patrons contacted the sheriff's office. After determining that the teen's injury was not life-threatening, deputies launched a search for the two men who shot at the teens but were unable to locate them.

There were no other reports of shootings in the area.

The two men were driving what is believed to be a dark, older-model, four-door Infiniti sedan, possibly an M45. The car was described as having rear end damage and bungee cords holding the trunk lid closed.
