Trade In Your Old Batteries for Spending Money
Covanta Pasco will give you a $5 Walmart gift card in exchange for your old mercury-containing devices atthe pasco County Fair this weekend.

While enjoying funnel cake and playing games at the Pasco County Fair this weekend, you also could pocket a bit of spending money by trading in old, mercury-containing devices.
During select hours, Covanta Pasco will collect thermometers, batteries, florescent bulbs and any other mercury-containing devices, a press release stated. Participants will receive a $5 Walmart gift certificate in exchange for their trade-ins.
Mercury-containing devices can damage soil and water supplies, so it is important that these products are disposed of differently than normal waste, the press release stated. Covanta runs mercury bounty programs year-round to reclaim and recycle such devices in an effort to prevent mercury contamination.Â
