Voluntary Evacuation Recommended in Pasco's Flood-Prone Areas

The county has opened its shelter in Hudson.

Bracing for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Isaac, Pasco County officials are reccomending a voluntary evacuation for people living in flood-prone areas of the county.

They also opened the Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter at noon Sunday.

The Fasano Shelter is located at 11611 Denton Avenue in Hudson. Folks who have disabilities or lack transportation and need to get to the shelter can call (727) 847-2411.

Properties that have experienced historical flooding are being asked to take prevenive measures.

Although rainfall is hard to predict, four to seven inches could be possible, according to the county.

“There is also potential for storm surge coincidental to high tide Monday at 9:30 a.m.,”  according to a county press release. "The (National Weather Service) expects a surge of 2-5 feet which may push seawater on some coastal roads making them temporarily impassable."
