Weekend Events Include Health Fair, Toothbrush Run
Here's what's happening in and around Land O' Lakes this weekend.

Saturday, June 2
Girl Scout Junior Troop 214 is hosting the Tooth Brush Run, a one-mile fun run to raise awareness about homelessness in the community. The run is part of their Bronze Award project, the highest award a Girl Scout Junior (grades 4-5) can earn. Run is free of charge. Participants are asked to bring donations of toothbrushes and toothpaste that will be distributed to the homeless. Registration/Number Pick up: 7:15 a.m., Run: 8 a.m.
Β Free health screenings, finger printing, visits with McGruff the crime dog, fire engine and ambulance on display, Zumba and self-defense demonstrations, and more. AMERICAN IDOLΒ FINALIST JEREMY ROSADO will be signing autographs and taking pictures.Β The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rasmussen College, on the corner of SR 54 and Sunlake Blvd.

Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo at MOSI:Β 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Free Expo Admission Β and Discounted Admission to MOSI. The Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo is a free event for the entire Bay area community. There will be dozens of vendors on display, representing private companies and government agencies, to take the mystery out of storm season preparation and make the homework for family disaster planning a little easier.

A panel of local meteorologists and emergency management experts will address attendees' questions at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Expo guests can also enjoy take advantage of discounted admission to MOSI
exhibits. For the discounted price, guests can experience Disasterville
featuring WeatherQuest, a 10,000-square-foot exhibition on floods, hail,
lightning, tsunamis and volcanoes, including immersion theatres that
demonstrate what it's like to be in an earthquake, hurricane, tornado and
wildfire.

A writing group designed for writers to come together, learn, network and find the resources needed to improve their writing and navigate the workings of the publishing world. 10 a.m. at Wiregrass Barnes & Noble.
Lutz Guv'na Campaign Fundraiser: A Bunco party to benefit Karin DβAmico's campaign begins at 2 p.m. at 527 2nd Ave, SW (the home of Larry and Aniko Solomonson. Cost is $10. Features prizes, raffles and snacks.
