Woman Cuts Detective with Scissors During Arrest
Reyna Ventura refused to let go after the detective saw the blades cut him, according to a detective.

A Land Oβ Lakes woman hurt a Pasco County Sheriffβs detectiveβs fingers with a pair of scissors Monday when the detective attempted to take them from her during an arrest, according to authorities.
Reyna Ventura, 44, was being detained in Wesley Chapel as part of an investigation when she armed herself with the scissors and tried to cut herself, according to an arrest report. The detective took the scissors by the blades, and a struggle ensued as the detective tried to remove them from Venturaβs grip.
She refused to let go after the detective saw the blades cut him, and she tried to pull them away from him. The detective eventually took the scissors away.Β The detective had lacerations on his middle, pointer and ring fingers, according to the arrest report.

Ventura, of 3808 Briley Loop, was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and also accused of other offenses stemming from recent incidents. These charges include five counts of obtaining a controlled substance via fraud and several counts of violation of probation.
She remained in the Land O' Lakes jail Tuesday night.
