Woman Pawns Stolen Rifle for Baby Formula Money

The Land O' Lakes woman was charged with false verification of ownership and felon in possession of a firearm.

A Land O' Lakes woman was arrested Monday, Feb. 20, for pawning a stolen rifle, according to a Pasco County complaint affidavit.

The Winchester rifle was reported stolen as part of a January burglary/grand theft complaint, the affidavit states.

According to the sheriff's office, Nicole Jane Cirks, 24, pawned the rifle by providing false verification of ownership to Land O' Lakes Gun and Pawn, 4409 Land O' Lakes Blvd, on Jan. 23. Cirks provided her driver's license and thumbprint to the pawn shop for identification, the affidavit states.

Cirks told deputies during a noncustodial interview that she took the gun and pawned it "because she needed money for baby formula," the affidavit states.

Cirks was charged with false verification of ownership and felon in possession of a firearm. She was released from the Land O' Lakes jail Tuesday, Feb. 21, on $1,000 bond.
