Youth Basketball Players, Coaches Needed

Are the kids ready to shoot some hoops?

Registration for youth basketball at the will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, or until each division is full.

Volunteer coaches also are still needed, Recreation Supervisor Cindy Szappan said.

There are no specific qualifications to volunteer as a coach, but some basketball knowledge is helpful, Szappan said.

All volunteer coaches are required to have a sexual predator background check through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Szappan said.

League age divisions include 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15. 

The cost is $35, which includes a game T-shirt and an eight-game season, scheduled to begin the third week in January.
