Animal Services Offers $5 Cat Adoption Fees
Pinellas County Animal Services is also seeking foster homes for its animals as well.

LARGO, FL – Across the country, animal shelters see their kitten and cat population explode in the spring and summer. Pinellas County is no different.
In an effort to reduce the number of unsterilized feline pets, Pinellas County Animal Services dedicates June to promoting cat adoption. To encourage adoptions, Animal Services offering $5 adoption fees for cats and kittens through the end of the month.
If residents are not able to adopt, they can still provide a safe and loving environment for kittens, puppies, dogs and cats until they are ready to be adopted. According to Animal Services, fostering is flexible enough for most lifestyles. Veterinary care, medication and other necessary supplies are provided by Pinellas County.

“The foster parent provides affection, we provide the rest,” said Doug Brightwell, director of Pinellas County Animal Services. “By taking one of our animals into your home on a temporary basis you provide that animal with a safe environment as they get ready to find a forever home.”
Also, adoption fees on all pets at Pinellas County Animal Services during the week of Father’s Day (June 19-23) will be waived. Every pet that gets adopted during that week will go home with a bag of food and a surprise treat.

Pinellas County Animal Services is located at 12450 Ulmerton Road in Largo. Regular hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the adoption center closing at 5:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rabies vaccinations are administered on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
