Cabbie Shot In Largo Armed Robbery

A cab driver trying to pick up a fare in Largo was shot Monday evening.

LARGO, FL β€” The Largo Police Department is investigating a Monday night shooting that left a cab driver injured.

According to the agency, the taxi cab driver was picking up a fare in the area of the 2100 block of Bradford Street around 8:29 p.m. Dec. 26. Upon arrival, police say the driver was approached by a person wearing a mask. The person pulled out a gun and demanded money.

"The cab driver and the suspect then physically struggled," an email from the agency said. "At some point during that struggle, the suspect shot the cab driver once in the leg."

The cabbie, who is not being identified at this time, suffered a non-life-threatening injury, police said. He remained hospitalized Tuesday morning.
