Elderly Man Dies In Hospital After Being Struck By Pickup In Lealman

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help to identify a driver who fled the scene of a fatal crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck who struck and killed an 82-year-old Jacksonville man who was crossing 49th Street North at 58th Avenue North in Lealman, and then fled the scene.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck who struck and killed an 82-year-old Jacksonville man who was crossing 49th Street North at 58th Avenue North in Lealman, and then fled the scene.

According to troopers, on Nov. 28 at 6:48 p.m. a gold 2002 to 2006 Dodge Ram was heading south on 49th Street North. At the intersection of 58th Avenue North, the pickup turned east and the elderly man crossing the road in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of the two roadways. Following the collision, the pickup truck fled the scene.

The Jacksonville man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. He died on Dec. 1.

Witnesses described the pickup truck, further explaining the pedestrian was struck by the right side of the truck, damaging the right fender and engine hood. Witnesses also noted the truck had a louder-than-stock exhaust and was in good condition other than fading paint.
