Escaped Child Rape Suspect Captured In Pinellas County: Reports

LARGO, FL — A child rape suspect on the run for more than a month after escaping from a prison van in Tennessee was captured in Pinellas County on Tuesday, according to multiple reports citing federal authorities.

According to the FBI, 52-year-old Sean Williams escaped a transport van on Oct. 18 while authorities were moving him from a detention facility in Kentucky to the federal courthouse in Greeneville, Tennessee.

Williams was in federal custody for three counts of production of child sexual abuse material and one count of distribution of cocaine, according to the FBI. He also faces multiple charges in Tennessee including raping a child, aggravated sexual battery of a child under 13 and especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

Pinellas County authorities told WFLA that Williams was located Tuesday after they received a report of a suspicious person near 11505 Walsingham Rd. in Largo. Officers responded to the area and a K-9 officer located Williams around 9 p.m., WFLA reported.

Williams' arrest came after he was seen in the county earlier in the day, reports said.

Last Friday, Williams was spotted at a shopping center in Jackson County, North Carolina.

As of Wednesday, Williams remained in Pinellas County Jail.
