Largo Shooting Victim Identified

LARGO, FL — As the Largo Police Department continues to investigate a Tuesday shooting that left one person injured, officers have released some details in the case.

According to the agency, police received several calls around 2:20 a.m. Jan. 3 about shots fired in the 11400 block of 137th Street North. When they arrived at the scene, they learned that several people inside an apartment “engaged in gunfire at one another and numerous rounds were shot,” an email from the agency said.

During the exchange of fire, Benjamin Martin, 28, was shot in the “lower extremity.”

Martin was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury, the agency said.

“There are no other suspects identified at this time and illegal narcotic activity is suspected to be a factor involved,” police said.
