Low-Pressure System Could Bring Rough Weather to Florida

The low-pressure system may hit the Sunshine State mid-week, with gusting winds and heavy rain. Meanwhile, afternoon thunderstorms are in the forecast Monday-Friday.

The National Weather Service is keeping a watchful eye on a low-pressure zone in the Gulf of Mexico that could reach Florida mid-week, bringing heavy rain, flooding, gusty winds and tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service, the system, off the Yucatan Peninsula, could create "multiple hazards" in the Tampa Bay region this week.

Meanwhile, a hazardous weather outlook was issued Monday for Largo. The forecast extends from Sarasota to Tarpon Springs.

Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Monday and Monday night, with the chance of cloud-to-ground lightning and some minor flooding. Afternoon thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the week.
