Man’s ‘Rape Fantasy’ Didn’t Pan Out: Cops

A Hudson man, 24, faces charges after police say he attempted to meet up with a Largo teen to enact a "rape fantasy."

LARGO, FL — A 24-year-old Hudson man faces criminal charges after Largo Police say he traveled to their town with the intent to carry out a “rape fantasy” with a 14-year-old girl. What Michael Douglas Ludwig didn’t know prior to his arrest, however, was that the “teen” he was conversing with over social media and text was actually Det. Lance Moore.

According to the police department, the investigation into Ludwig’s alleged illegal activities began in early August. Moore, an email from the agency said, came across “multiple posts on a social media networking site soliciting sexual contact from school-aged girls.” Specifically, Ludwig is accused of expressing a desire to play out “a rape fantasy with young schoolgirls.”

After reading over the posts, Moore made contact with Ludwig, posing as a middle school girl, the email said. Moore repeatedly told Ludwig he was chatting with a 14-year-old girl.

Police say as the conversations between Ludwig and the “teenager” continued, “Ludwig became more aggressive and agitated.” He is accused of threatening the “girl,” sending her nude photographs of himself and then demanding that she “sneak” out of her home to meet up with him, the email said.

Ludwig is also accused of texting the “girl” on several occasions. In one text, he reportedly wrote, “I’m going to rape you.”

Ludwig and the “teen” agreed to meet up in a residential location in Largo on Wednesday night, the agency reported. Ludwig was promptly brought into custody after he arrived at the home. Police say he “made a full post-Miranda confession for his actions.”

Ludwig now faces four counts of use of a computer to seduce, solicit, lure or entice a child; one count of traveling to meet a minor; a county of unlawful use of a two-way communication device and one count of transmission of harmful materials to a minor. Police say they also found narcotics in his vehicle. Drug-related charges are pending lab testing.

Ludwig was booked into the Pinellas County Jail following his Aug. 23 arrest. No further information is being released at this time.
