Pinellas County Historical Commission Vacancy Announced
Members of the volunteer board serve four-year terms.

LARGO, FL – Residents of Pinellas County who are interested in helping to preserve the area’s history have a chance join one of the leading historical organizations.
Applications are now being accepted for membership on the Pinellas County Historical Commission. The commission consists of volunteers who primarily advise on matters pertaining to Heritage Village and prospective historical objects, facilities and records to be displayed at Heritage Village.
What began as the Historic Preservation Task Force in June 2005, the board has grown from helping to craft a historic preservation ordinance to working on tasks such as:

- Updating the historic resource inventory/database
- Developing and promoting historic preservation programs, including responsibility for local landmark and landmark designations
- Providing educational outreach and technical assistance on historic preservation
- Reviewing applications for historic designations
- Making decisions on certificates of appropriateness
The commission is made up of nine members and two alternates. Seven members are nominated by the individual members of the Board of County Commissioners for appointment by the Board as a whole. The other two members are appointed by the Junior League of Clearwater/Dunedin and Pinellas County Historical Society respectively.
Members appointed by the county commissioners serve four-year terms that run concurrently with the term of the nominating commissioner. Members appointed by the Junior League and Historical Society serve four-year terms that begin from the actual date of appointment.
