A 35-year-old St. Petersburg man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle following a road rage incident last month

A road rage incident lead to the arrest of a St. Petersburg man on an aggravated assault charge after the victim said the man tried to run her over.

35-year-old Robert Shawn Day was arrested and charged with a felony count of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle resulting from the May 25th incident.

According to the police report, Day followed the victim to her home after he said she cut him off in traffic.

When they arrived at the home, the victim reported that Day purposely drove his car towards her and another eyewitness to the point where they were in fear for their lives.

The victim reportedly took photos of the defendant, his car and his license tag with the other witness present.

When Largo Police officers questioned Day about the incident, he admitted he was the person in the photograph, according to the report.

Day admitted to driving towards the victim because he was angry that she cut him off in traffic, but he said he was only attempting to scare her and had no intention of hurting her, the report states.

According to police, during the arrest officers found a pipe stored in the front compartment of Day's lunchbox; he admitted the pipe was his and told police, "Oh, I forgot I had that."

Day was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail on June 11th on one count of felony aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Records show he was released on bond on June 13.
