LARGO, FL — A woman was arrested after stabbing an employee at a smoke shop at 14111 Belcher Road on Monday afternoon, Largo Police Department said in a news release.

When officers responded to the shop just before noon, they found “a good Samaritan actively holding down the suspect,” Yesenia Sofia Gonzalez-Aleaga, 22, police said.

Once she was taken into custody, officers rendered aid to the victim until paramedics arrived to bring him to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The store’s surveillance footage showed Gonzalez-Aleaga enter the store and ask the victim for a product on a lower shelf.

As the victim bent down, she grabbed a knife from her purse and stabbed him multiple times, police said.

He is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Detectives are working to determine a motive for the stabbing as Gonzalez-Aleaga and the suspect don’t know each other, police said.

She was charged with attempted murder in the first degree.
