SPCA Tampa Bay To Host Clear The Shelters Day With No Cost For Pets
SPCA Tampa Bay, 9099 130th Ave. N, Largo,​ will host its annual Clear the Shelters no-fee adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 26.
LARGO, FL — SPCA Tampa Bay, 9099 130th Ave. N, Largo, will host its annual Clear the Shelters no-fee adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 26. All animals up for adoption and listed on the website.
Animal shelters, like SPCA Tampa Bay, across the country are celebrating pet companionship and Clear the Shelters adoption events during the month of August. Traditionally, adoption prices for most animals range from $30 to $200 or more at SPCA Tampa Bay but, on Saturday, Aug. 26, all adoption fees will be waived.
Animals are vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped and include dogs, cats and pocket pets.

In addition, SPCA Tampa Bay currently has more than 100 small animals and livestock available for no adoption fee through Aug. 31. The pets available for adoption include seven potbellied pigs. Bonnita, Squealer, Big Mike, Jimmy Dean, Pickle, Peppa and Porkahontas have grown up together and would prefer to go home in pairs, or together. They're outside pigs and would do best on a farm or in a rural area. These seven standard male and female pigs are 6 years old, microchipped and spayed/neutered. They have lived around small dogs in the past and love lounging in the pool.
Since its 2015 inception, NBC Universal's Clear the Shelters has helped more than 860,000 pets find new homes and the 2022 campaign set a new single-year record with more than 161,000 pet adoptions, while also raising more than$540,000.

On average, it costs more than $36 to care for one animal every day at SPCA Tampa Bay.
SPCA Tampa Bay's Clear the Shelter's adoption events have resulted in 100-plus adoptions in 2019, 60-plus in 2020, 32 in 2021 and 77 last year.
Arrive early at SPCA Tampa Bay on Aug. 26. The for-all shelter in Largo opens at 10 a.m. Adoption hours for this week are Wednesday through Friday, 1 - 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon - 6 p.m.
