Girls Soccer Team to Host Kickin' Klassics Car Show

Have a classic car you like to show off?

The Sunlake High varsity girls soccer team in nearby Land O' Lakes will put the fun in fundraiser at its Kickin’ Klassics Car Show, and they need your sweet ride to be there.

The event at Beef O’ Brady’s on Saturday, Dec. 15, will feature games for kids, music, a bake sale and raffles, along with some of the coolest cars in town.

Car owners can pre-register by Dec. 10 for $25; the fee increases to $30 through the day of the event. Prizes will be awarded to participants, though the categories have not been determined just yet, team parent Dara Tirado said.

The categories will be based on the types of cars that pre-register, she said. The team is hoping for at least 40 cars.

"The junior varsity team is full of youth and talent. They are doing well and have already surpassed last year's season. The varsity team is working hard at accomplishing a major goal: to place in the finals at the district tournament,” Coach Jami Finan said. “Most of the team has returned from last year, so we have a solid group that has already played together."

The money raised at the car show will help them accomplish this by funding equipment and tournament fees,” Finan said.

Finan came up with the idea for a car show fundraiser because she wanted to do something “a little more exciting that the typical catalog fundraiser,” Tirado said.

Finan’s father is a car enthusiast and will be entering his car, she said.

Sponsors also are needed for the event, Tirado said. Individuals and businesses can make monetary donations or donate prizes for raffles.
