PASCO COUNTY, FL β€” Premier Community HealthCare announced the addition of podiatry to its list of comprehensive healthcare services for Pasco and Hernando counties.

"As a community health center, we recognize the need for affordable specialty care at the local level,” said Joey Resnick, chief executive officer of Premier. β€œAs a part of the patient-centered medical home model, our goal is to treat the entire patient, from head to toe and at any stage of life. With the addition of podiatry, we can better serve our diabetic patients and community members in need of foot and ankle care."

Leading Premier’s podiatry team is Dr. Bahaa Amer. Amer graduated from Cairo University School of Medicine in Egypt and received his podiatric medicine and surgery degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and the American Board of Wound Management. Dr. Amer is skilled in all aspects of podiatry medicine, including general podiatry, wound care, forefoot, and rear-foot pathology. In addition, he has several publications addressing diabetic foot treatment and other standard foot and ankle disorders.

"A podiatrist is an essential part of diabetes health care,” said Amer. β€œI assess nerve damage in feet, identify specific foot health risks, and help develop a treatment and prevention plan for my patients. I’m proud to lead this team and extend our expertise and care to residents in Pasco and Hernando counties."

Premier’s podiatry service line initially launched in the fall of 2021 in Spring Hill and Zephyrhills, and was supported by an $80,000 Pasco County Community Development Block Grant.
