Zephyrhills Bicyclist Killed After Hitting Utility Pole On U.S. 301

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — A bicyclist has died following a crash Thursday on U.S. 301 south of Alston Avenue in Zephyrhills.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car driven by a 75-year-old Zephyrhills woman, a motorcycle ridden by a 16-year-old Zephyrhills teen and a bicycle ridden by a 40-year-old Zephyrhills man were headed north on U.S. 301 at 8:21 p.m. when traffic slowed ahead.

Troopers said the car failed to slow for the traffic ahead and crashed into the rear of the motorcycle. The motorcycle then collided with the bicyclist, who struck a utility pole.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The 16-year-old and 75-year-old suffered minor injuries.
