1. A South Florida line worker died Wednesday after being electrocuted in an industrial accident, according to a news release. The subcontracted worker was electrocuted at around 9:40 a.m. while servicing lines in the area of SW 107th Avenue and 162nd Street. (Miami Patch)

2. Residents at a Downtown Miami high rise are upset about yelling coming from a Federal Detention Center nearby. Residents are paying a high price for relaxation they say they are being denied. One resident did say he was aware of the detention center before moving in. (WPLG Local 10)

3. A teenager has been arrested in the deadly shooting of another teen at a Deerfield Beach park on Dec. 28 along the 400 block of Southwest Second Street. The shooting remains under investigations and the motive for the shooting remains unclear. (WSVN)

4. The Related Group has obtained a $160 million mortgage for a new luxury rental tower in Miami’s Brickell Financial District, according to South Florida Business Journal. A spokesperson told the outlet that the building will feature "506-unit luxury apartment building at 77 S.E. 5th St. on a 2.22-acre waterfront parcel." (Subscription: South Florida Business Journal)

5. South Florida residents are being encouraged to partake in Christmas tree recycling programs as the holiday season ends. Residents unable to drop off their Christmas tree can place it at the curbside and crews will collect them starting Wednesday, Jan. 11. (CBS Miami)
