BROWARD COUNTY, FL — A former south Florida trooper is behind bars following child porn accusations.

Online jail records from the Broward County Sheriff's Office show that Christopher Chappell, 45, has been charged with accessing child pornography with intent to view. The U.S. Marshals Service is listed as the arresting agency.

He is being held on no bond, the jail's website shows.

According to multiple news outlets, Chappell is a former captain with the Florida Highway Patrol.

Following his arrest, Florida Highway Patrol confirmed he is no longer employed with the agency.

He was part of Troop L, which is divided into three districts: Fort Pierce, Lake Worth and Davie, WPLG-TV reported. His image and name has since been removed from FHP's website.

Chappel is expected to face a judge in federal court in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, according to WSVN-TV.
