1. Nine people were taken to the hospital from Miami International Airport after becoming ill during a flight that was heading to Central Florida on Saturday evening. The incident happened on a Frontier Airlines flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is unclear what caused the passengers to become ill. (WSVN)

2. Harvey Ruvin, Miami-Dade County’s longest-serving elected official, died at age 85 on New Year's Eve. "Tonight, we are heartbroken to learn of Harvey Ruvin's death — a public servant who embodied the best of government, and someone I was proud to call a friend," Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said in a tweet on Saturday night. 3. Enterprise Florida, the state's public-private partnership and economic development organization that seeks to create new jobs in Florida, made 80 trade grants to Miami-Dade businesses in 2022. The organiation also hosts trade shows and gives trade mission grants to help South Florida businesses attend target sector trade shows and grow. (Miami Today)

4. South Florida celebrated its first babies born in 2023 at midnight. Broward Health in Coral Springs shared their first delivery of 2023 was a 5-pound 13-ounce baby girl born at midnight. Baptist Health in Homestead delivered its first baby five minutes later at 12:05 a.m. (WPLG Local 10)

5. Operations are back to normal at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after an IT issue caused a headache for travelers on New Year's Eve. The IT issues impacted the airport's security screening and other systems in terminal one, according to airport officials. (NBC Miami)
