Here are the top stories in Miami today:

1. An Islamorada man is facing charges after tossing two kittens from a moving vehicle on U.S. 1 at the end of November, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said the suspect was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of animal cruelty. (Miami Patch)

2. Surveillance camera footage has been released of a Miami firefighter beating up a patient who had requested to be taken to the emergency room. The incident happened at Jackson Memorial Hospital back on Oct. 15, according to reports. The Fire Department released a statement, "When this incident occurred, the individual was immediately relieved of duty. Our department is conducting an administrative investigation while this individual remains in a relieved of duty status." (WSVN)

3. Fort Lauderdale police Officer Steven Pohorence was found not guilty in a battery trial on Monday in South Florida. Pohorence declined to speak to reporters after the trial. He was initially charged for allegedly pushing a Black Lives Matter protester during the 2020 protests, but a key expert during the trial said that the officer was attempting to help another officer during the incident. 4. Santa’s Circus and Magical Village is happening at Jungle Island located at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail through Jan. 1, 2023. The event includes lights, festive music, character appearances, carnival games, and more. Tickets are available online. (Miami's Community News)

5. Eating House has opened a new location in Coral Gables' Giralda Plaza, after closing last year after a decade of service. The new space was designed by Miami-based design firm Locus Architecture. Menu items are curated by Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli and partners Alexander Casanova and Laura Faraci. (Eater Miami)
