Murder Victim Moved To Miami Beach From Texas

The Miami Beach Police Department is offering a $5K reward in connection with a fatal shooting along tourist-favorite Española ​Way.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A 29-year-old man who recently moved to Miami Beach, was gunned down on Thursday night along tourist-favorite Española Way. The victim was identified as Kamil Patel but police did not immediately release a motive for the slaying.

The Miami Beach Police Department said on Friday they were offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

"He had recently moved to Miami Beach from Texas," Miami Beach spokeswoman Melissa Berthier told Patch. She said that the shooting occurred around 11:45 p.m. in an alley. "He's an American with Pakistani descent."

Berthier said that the city's reward is in addition to any reward that may be offered by Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.

Patel was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died, according to Berthier.

The shooter escaped in a white car with a possible temporary tag number of CC34319. The shooter was wearing a hoodie, according to Berthier.

News reports said that the shooting occurred near the Kill Your Idol bar, which holds karaoke nights on Thursday.
