Miami Beach Curfew Issued For Tuesday Night

Liquor sales will also be prohibited during the curfew, a rule which the mayor said will be "strictly enforced."

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Residents of Miami Beach are required to be indoors between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday "for safety reasons," Mayor Philip Levine announced.

"All businesses will be closed during this period," the mayor said in a statement. "Sale and distribution of any alcoholic beverages is prohibited between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m, and will be strictly enforced." [Emphasis original]

People will not be allowed to drive during this time, except for those in "essential services." These occupations include firefighters, police officers, public works employees, and hospital workers.

The statement concludes: "Please be safe and responsible. The curfew is mandatory and will be strictly enforced by Miami Beach Police Department."

Miami-Dade officials announced Tuesday that the county-wide curfew has ended.
