North Bay Village police on Friday reported a drop in crime for the second straight year.

NORTH BAY VILLAGE, FL — North Bay Village police on Friday reported a drop in crime for the second straight year.

"Our Uniform Crime Report for 2017 part one crimes revealed a 2.6 percent drop, which follows a 3.8 percent drop in 2016," said Police Chief Carlos Noriega in announcing the new numbers.

"In addition to a reduction in part one crimes with both violent and property offenses,, significantly lower numbers were also produced with domestic violence offenses and simple assaults," Noriega explained. "The combined 6.4 percent reduction in part one crimes over the past two years is a reflection of the ongoing commitment, initiatives and efforts with public safety and community engagement under this administration.
