Singer Jacquees Arrested In Miami Beach
The singer was arrested after he allegedly refused to stop for a Miami Beach police officer over a seat-belt violation.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Singer-songwriter Jacquees was arrested along iconic Ocean Drive in South Beach on Wednesday after allegedly refusing to stop for a Miami Beach police officer. The uniformed officer said he was trying to stop the singer because he wasn't wearing a seat-belt. That's when things got out of hand.
The singer, whose real name is Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, was driving a black Lamborghini with temporary Georgia tags when a Miami Beach officer noticed that he was not wearing his seat-belt, according to arrest documents. The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. while he was driving north on Ocean Drive at 8 Street.
"The defendant did not obey my command and instead kept driving the vehicle at a low rate of speed with heavy traffic, still northbound on Ocean Drive," arrest documents said. "The defendant asked why he was being order to pull over and he was advised because of him not wearing a seat-belt."

Jacquees allegedly refused to comply a second time.

"The defendant was then ordered to exit the vehicle," the documents said. "He then stopped the vehicle and abruptly opened the door and exited."
The police officer stated that he wanted the 23-year-old Georgia entertainer to walk with him to the sidewalk and discuss why he was being pulled over.
"He refused to comply and instead stated 'do not touch me,'" arrest documents said.
Police said a large crowd of spring breakers formed around the singer.
"Additional officers had to be requested in emergency mode due to the large crowd gathering and the defendant still not complying," arrest documents said. "Defendant's actions disrupted the peace and quiet and public morals of bystanders on a busy spring break day on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach."
Police blamed Jacquees for escalating the incident.
"If the defendant would have complied since he was being pulled over, this incident could have been avoided," the arrest documents said.
The singer was charged with failure to obey a lawful command and driving without a seat-belt.
Miami Beach police said one of the officers was wearing a body camera at the time.
