$89 Million in Storm Damage Estimated in Pasco County

Breaking: Pasco County emergency managers estimate Hurricane Hermine caused about $89 million in damage.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — Hurricane Hermine is officially one of the costliest disasters on record in Pasco County with an estimated price tag of $89 million chalked up to the storm and subsequent flooding.

Pasco County Emergency Management released the figures Wednesday as it transitioned into recovery mode. The county says that 350 government employees and volunteers have worked in the days since the storm blew by to conduct human needs and damage assessments.

As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, the county had documented 2,672 properties impacted by the storm, an email from the county said.

The breakdown of damages are as follows:

  • 796 “affected” properties, meaning storm-related issues, such as yard flooding and downed trees. These issues didn’t necessarily cause damage.
  • 1,564 properties with minor damage – This category includes homes with flooding up to electrical sockets and homes that had trees fall on roofs.
  • 305 properties with major damage – These are homes and properties with water from electrical sockets up to doorknobs and those that had trees fall through roofs.
  • 7 destroyed properties – These are homes that suffered flooding above the doorknobs and those with roofs or walls missing due to falling trees.

Pasco County residents who have not yet done so are urged to report any storm-related damage by calling 727-847-2411 or emailing customerservice@pascocountyfl.net.
