​Gulf Middle School Junior Thespians Awarded Big at State Festival

The school entered 10 acts, each bringing back a medal. The students were among more than 5,000 to compete.

From Gulf Middle School: Gulf Middle School entered 10 acts in the Florida Junior Thespians’ 2017 State Festival, and all 10 acts brought home medals.

The Gulf students were among more than 5,000 middle school students from throughout the state that competed at the Festival, held at Dr. Phillips High School and the Orange County Convention Center’s Chapin Theater in Orlando.

Gulf Middle’s acts, involving many first-time performers, earned Superior (six) or Excellent (four) honors in the musical, acting, pantomime, improvisation, and tech categories. Highlights of the weekend included a rousing Large Group Musical, the troupe’s “Hey Kendra” performance, which drew gleeful squeals and cheers, and endearing monologues. Following is a list of the students, their ratings, and their categories.
