Infant Injured in Port Richey Drive-By Shooting

Breaking: A 1-year-old girl was injured in a Sunday night drive-by shooting in Port Richey.

PORT RICHEY, FL — The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Sunday night drive-by shooting that left a 1-year-old Port Richey girl injured.

Deputies say a call came in around 11:26 p.m. about multiple shots being fired at a home in the 7300 block of Westcott Drive.

“One of those rounds entered the front bedroom where the baby girl was sleeping,” an email from the sheriff’s office said. The baby was struck in the wrist. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, the email said.

Deputies say the shooting does not appear to be random. “The mother of the infant is a documented gang member,” the agency wrote.

The sheriff's office is releasing no further information at this time, including the names of those involved.
