Man Killed in U.S. 19 Pedestrian Crash

A Friday evening crash on U.S. 19 in Port Richey resulted in the death of a Palm Harbor man.

PORT RICHEY, FL — A 52-year-old Palm Harbor man is dead following a Friday evening crash on U.S. 19 near Embassy Boulevard.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Harvey Frank Gray, 75, of New Port Richey was driving a Cadillac northbound on U.S. 19 around 6:33 p.m. Nov. 18. Gray was in the center lane approaching the intersection of Embassy Boulevard, a highway patrol report said.

At that time, troopers say John James Caruso of Palm Harbor walked eastbound across U.S. 19, outside of a crosswalk. When he did, troopers say he walked into the path of Gray’s oncoming car.

Caruso was pronounced dead at the scene. Gray and his passenger were uninjured.

No charges have been filed. Troopers say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
