Assistant Principal Arrested: Pot-Laced Cookies Were Gift From Daughter, Deputies Say

HOLIDAY, FL — A daughter's intention to help her mother cross off a bucket list item in honor of her 50th birthday ended up landing them both in jail.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, the daughter, Allison Haff, 19, of Land O' Lakes obtained marijuana oil laced cookies from a coworker and brought them to her mom, Anclote High School Assistant Principal Donna Haff.

Those cookies evidently didn't sit too well with Donna Haff. The sheriff's office said she was hospitalized for an overdose after trying out the gift.

Haff's daughter, Allison, was arrested following the Sunday incident. She was charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams and later bonded out of jail in lieu of $500.

Donna Haff was brought into custody on Monday, following her release from a local hospital after the alleged overdose, the sheriff's office wrote in an email to media. Deputies met with Donna Haff at her Land O’ Lakes home and made the Nov. 14 arrest on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

An arrest report said the two women “knowingly and intentionally had in their possession a cookie, which was admitted by the co-defendant (Allison Haff) to contain marijuana oil,” the report said.

Donna Haff has served as the assistant principal at the 1540 Sweetbriar Drive school since 2012. She is a New Jersey native who attended the University of South Florida and Florida State University, according to the school’s website.

Donna Haff has been placed on administrative leave from her position, Pasco County Schools spokeswoman Linda Cobbe said. Further action is pending, she added.

Donna Haff was released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail early Tuesday morning in lieu of $2,000 bond.
