Bearded Brothers' Fiddle Player Killed in U.S. 19 Crash

A Sunday evening crash on U.S. 19 at Beach Boulevard claimed the life of the 33-year-old New Port Richey man.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal Sunday evening crash on U.S. 19 that claimed the life of The Bearded Brothers Band's fiddle player.

According to troopers, Francine Chery, 56, of Port Richey was heading north on U.S. 19 in a four-door Suzuki around 8:46 p.m. on Nov. 27. Chery was in the left turn lane approaching Beach Boulevard, a highway patrol report said.

At that time, Robert "Rob" Leroy Cartwright, 33, was riding a motorcycle south on U.S. 19. Troopers say Chery turned into Cartwright’s path, causing the bike to hit the rear of the Suzuki.
