Pumpkin, Rock Tossing Lands Man Behind Bars

Broken windows at a New Port Richey home led to a 26-year-old man's arrest.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A 26-year-old man was just “playing around” when a rock tossed at the window of a New Port Richey home caused the glass to shatter. That first encounter with the cause-and-effect scenario, however, didn’t stop the man from throwing more rocks and a large pumpkin at more of the home’s windows, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called out to a home in the 5000 block of Trouble Creek Road Wednesday evening after learning about the alleged vandalism. Once on the scene, deputies learned that Timothy Charles Turner was “playing around” in the backyard of his neighbor’s house when the damage occurred, an arrest report said.

Turner told deputies after the first window broke, he “continued playing, throwing rocks and a large pumpkin,” the report said. By the time all was said and done, two windows on the home “were completely shattered.”

Turner was charged with criminal mischief.

Following his arrest, Turner told deputies, “he was dumb for not stopping after breaking the first window,” the report noted.
