Arrest Made In Crash That Killed Tampa Palms Bicyclist

Tampa police have been an arrest in the accident at Park Center Drive and Lizards Tail Road that killed a bicyclist.

NEW TAMPA, FL — Tampa police have made an arrest in the accident that killed a bicyclist at Park Center Drive and Lizards Tail Road Thursday.

According to police, at 7:35 a.m., Phillip Henkin, 58, was heading north on Lizards Tail Road behind the 7-Eleven at 5102 Pointe of Tampa Way at a high speed and struck a bicyclist head on. Henkin then crashed into a tree.

The bicyclist died at the scene.

Police found evidence that Henkin was attempting to negotiate a curve in his Tesla while driving too fast when he struck the bicyclist. He's been charged with vehicular homicide.
