Bruce B. Downs Open After Gas Line Break
Traffic on Bruce B. Downs in the New Tampa area was closed in both directions Tuesday afternoon.

TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County has announced that Bruce B. Downs Boulevard has reopened following a Tuesday afternoon gas line break.
Earlier: Motorists who use Bruce B. Downs to get around are being asked to take alternate routes Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Tampa Police Department, a Jan. 3 gas line rupture has forced the closing of the road in both directions between Amberly Drive and Tampa Palms Boulevard. Police say an excavator hit a 6-inch gas line causing the damage.

As of 2:22 p.m., police expected the closing to last for up to two hours.
“There is no threat to schools in the area, however, this repair will impact and delay buses as they transport children at the end of the school day,” an email from the police department said.
