The GFWC Little Women of Lutz is extending an invitation so sweet they’re hoping young ladies who want to get involved in community service won’t be able to pass it up.
The group, which is overseen by the Lutz-Land O’ Lakes Women’s Club, is gearing up for a brand new year of service by playing host to an open house and ice cream social Sept. 17.

During the event, girls ages 12 to 18 who want to get active in community service will have a chance to learn more about the Little Women, said club advisor Marilyn Wannamaker.
While the club’s name is Little Women of Lutz, Wannamaker said any young ladies from New Tampa who don’t mind rolling up their sleeves are welcome.

“It’s open to anybody,” she stressed, adding that girls come from all over the area to take part.
Service projects tackled by the club include such things as adopting a family during the holidays, keeping a local roadway clean and even cooking a meal for the parents of patients at Tampa’s Ronald McDonald House.
“We do a great deal, and it’s a wonderful thing for the girls because they can earn their needed volunteer hours for graduation and scholarships,” Wannamaker said.
The upcoming social is free and meant to give girls and their parents a chance to find out more. It takes place at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at First Baptist Church of Lutz, 18116 U.S. Highway 41.
