NEW TAMPA, FL — A Seminole woman sustained serious injuries when she collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer truck on Interstate 75 Monday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 3:54 a.m., Kennady P. Jones, 24, was driving a Toyota SUV at a high rate of speed north on I-75 when she overtook and collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer truck driven by Yvener Valcin, 30, of Somers Point, New Jersey.

Upon impact, the Toyota became lodged under the trailer. The truck continued north briefly before stopping on the outside shoulder at the exit ramp to Fowler Avenue.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of I-75 until 4:30 a.m.

Jones was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries.
