Fatal Accident Shuts Down I-75 During Rush Hour Friday

NEW TAMPA, FL -- A 43-year-old Lutz man has died following an accident on northbound Interstate 75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 4:32 p.m. Friday, March 29, Anthony Victor Malangone was driving an Isuzu Trooper north on I-75 just north of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard when a tire on the Trooper blew out. Malangone lost control of the Trooper, left the road and then over-corrected back across the highway before the Trooper overturned. The vehicle came to rest in the northbound lanes of the interstate, blocking traffic for several hours.

Malangone died at the scene.
