New Tampa Woman Fatally Shoots Man, Says He Tried To Run Her over

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Police are investigating a shooting death at The Dawson Apartments, 15501 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in New Tampa in which a woman said she shot a man who was trying to steal her car and run her over.

Police were called to the apartment complex Tuesday at 7:03 p.m. and found a man who had crashed his car into several other vehicles after he was shot. Bystanders pulled him out of the car and were providing CPR when police arrived but the man was not breathing and had no pulse.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The shooter remained on the scene and called 911 to report that she shot the man after he tried to run her over with his car. According to the shooter and witnesses, there was a struggle after the man tried to drive away in the woman's vehicle. During the struggle, the woman shot him.
