Final Renaissance Fest Weekend to Feature Barbecue Championships

If you haven't yet had an opportunity to get to the 2013 Bay Area Renaissance Festival, you have one more chance.

The festival will host its final weekend of activities April 6-7 at the Museum of Science & Industry, 11315 N. 46th St., Tampa.

On tap this weekend:

• BBQ Championships -- Local pit masters will battle for bragging rights. Free samples will be offered. Winners will be announced Sunday at 5 p.m. on the Wyldewood Stage.
• Free wine tastings will be held both days.
• Tattoo Competition -- Show off your tattoo Saturday at 2 p.m. on the Wyldewood Stage and win prizes.
• Best Beard Competition -- Guests can compete for the longest, grizzliest, most unique and best-trimmed beards at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on the Wyldewood Stage.
• Perfect Pirate Contest -- Give your best pirate impression at 1 p.m. Saturday on the Wyldewood Stage.
• Jousting demonstrations will take place 1 and 5 p.m. both days.
• Pub crawls begin at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Pirate Pub both days.
• The Queen's Royal High Tea will take place in the Queen's Tea Tent at 4 p.m. both days.
• A Fairy House Auction begins at 2 p.m. Sunday outside the Festival Front Gate.
• A Swab the Deck contest will be held at 11:30 a.m. both days.
• A Press-A-Wench contest is at 12:30 p.m. 
• a Pickle Pie-Eating contest takes place at 1:30 p.m.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

Adult admission is $15.95 in advance and $18.95 at the gate. Child (ages 5 to 12) admission is $7.95 in advance and $10.95 at the gate. Children age 4 and under are admitted free.

Seniors and students pay $14.95 at the gate.
