Friday Night Lights: Wharton, Freedom Hosting Great Football Matchups

Looking to keep up a winning streak, Freedom will host Alonso while Wharton (3-0) will host Durant (also 3-0).

Even if you’re not a high school football nut, the Wharton and Durant match-up tomorrow (Sept. 28) is worthy of your attention.

Yeah, it’s early in the season but the Tampa Bay Times is calling it “North of Tampa Area’s Game of the Year.” Both teams are 3-0, and there should be some added excitement in the air. Wharton was off last week, but Durant obliterated Brandon 36-0 on the 21st.

A little south on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard will be another game of note tomorrow (Sept. 28). Freedom High School’s Patriots will take on Alonso. Freedom, 2-2 so far this season, is looking to continue on a two-game winning streak.
