Ribbon-Cutting For New Tampa Performing Arts Center Set Thursday

The New Tampa Performing Arts Center includes a 348-seat theater/multipurpose venue with retractable seating.

NEW TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 13, for the New Tampa Performing Arts Center, a 20,000-square-foot building that will provide a venue for community theater, educational and youth programming, and group events.

The event will take place at 11 a.m. at the performing arts center, 8551 Hunters Village Road.

The New Tampa Performing Arts Center includes a 348-seat theater/multipurpose venue with retractable seating, a stage, a catwalk and orchestra pit. Other amenities include four studios/multipurpose rooms, a main lobby, a box office, a concession area, a catering/serving kitchen, and parking for 215 vehicles. The center will be expandable to 30,000 square feet with a future second floor.

The Hillsborough County Commission approved a $7.3 million construction contract for the center in May 2021. The project includes an adjacent dog park that was previously completed.

The performing arts center is expected to open to the public early next year.
