Saturday Night Lights: Football, Fun and Fund-Raising in New Tampa
The 8th annual tailgating fundraiser will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at the YMCA.

New Tampa Family YMCA’s Saturday Night Lights event is all about the three F’s: football, fund-raising and fun.
The 8th Annual tailgating fund-raiser will kick off (pun intended) this Saturday, Oct. 13, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
“Attendees wear clothing supporting their favorite teams, sample local restaurants’ fares and bid on unique auction items — but local kids and families are the real winners,” event chair Ginger Bean said in a news release. “All of the proceeds raised go right back into the New Tampa community so that we can affect change in our very neighborhood.”

Money received from the event will go toward providing financial assistance to local children and families so they can take part in YMCA camps and programs. According to the New Tampa Family YMCA, the facility doles out more than $300,000 in aid to recipients every year.
In addition to serving an important community purpose, Saturday Night Lights is a major social event held in a casual environment. Football games will be shown on several flat screen TVs, and there will be music, dancing and an auction.
