'Taptoberfest' Coming This Weekend

It’s time to bust out the lederhosen again.

For the fourth year in a row, The Brass Tap in Wesley Chapel will celebrate its two-day-long Oktoberfest celebration, set for this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 5-6).

“Wesley Chapel will feel more like Munich, Germany, than the Sunshine State,” a spokesman tells Patch.

The free event will feature authentic brews from North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany, a block party, games and some spiffy-sounding liter-size das boot glasses. It also includes live music and boot-chugging competitions.

“You don’t need a lederhosen to celebrate Taptoberfest – although our waitresses will certainly be wearing them,” Jeff Martin, founder of The Brass Tap, said in a prepared statement. “Taptoberfest is all about pairing friends, fun and the best beers that the season has to offer, and we can’t wait to share a memorable weekend with Wesley Chapel enthusiasts.”

Special Warsteiner glass drinking boots are being sold for $25, with refills for $8.

Taptoberfest is sure to attract lots of thirsty patrons — though not quite on the level of the famous Oktoberfest held in Germany. The event over the pond brings in a reported 6 million people annually over a 16-day period.
