TAMPA, FL — A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office helicopter spent more than seven hours Sunday searching for stranded kayakers in Hillsborough River State Park.
At 6:49 p.m. the sheriff's aviation and marine units were called to locate missing kayakers who stranded in fallen trees.
When they were located from a bridge, deputies and park rangers couldn't reach the kayakers due to fallen trees in the river. And the kayakers couldn't paddle to the bridge because of the strong current. Eventually, the sheriff's marine unit was able to navigate the fallen trees and rescue the kayakers.
